The Business Golf Country Club is starting its 10th week this weekend and the activity in the club is really building. Could this be that more Real golfers are coming online? The ClamBake Cafe , the podcasting arm of the BGCC is also showing growth in the number of followers and listeners. Could this mean more people are interested in learning more about how Business and Golf mix?
These questions and more are all being discussed at the Business Golf Country Club. All seem good but there is always a concern I have with the BGCC and that concern is, there are golfers out here in La-La-Land who have not found the BGCC or CBC who are looking for a Safe and Purposeful golf sites to belong. So if you know of golfers, specifically business golfers, then tell them to check out the BGCC. It could be the last online gathering place they will every need to join.
Since the club membership is filling with some very interesting business golfers I felt it would be good to feature a few of them in each BGCC Report. This club is for Business Golfers so I will feature a member for the business arena and a member from the golf profession in each BGCC report.
It is a fact that without business there would be no Golf for any of us to enjoy. In was projected that golf would have burned out many centuries ago if it was not for golf being used as a great way to get away from the grin of surviving the world and as a way to recharging the energy needed to make a change. So, business plays a huge part in Golf’s future. Following is one of the BGCC members who is making a difference in the business golf arena.
Walt Goshert– Pennsylvania- One of the first members of the BGCC, Walt is a marketing consultant and copywriter, specializing in the golf business. Since the beginning of the BGCC Walt and I have had the pleasure of visiting many times to discuss important issues surrounding the golf industry. Walt is on track with his straight forward thinking that Golf has to change across the board in order to survive.
Walt is transitioning into offering his experience through a broader base services and is the process of building a new web-site, blog and new direction as most of us are doing in this economy and change. His strengths are in communication, communication and communication..and OH yaw, did I say Walt feels communicating to your market is a must? Good, I thought I did..just wanted to make sure because Walt is very serious that the lack of knowing your market is why most businesses fail.
Walt, like many of you, hangs out on Twitter as @marketingcaddy..give Walt a shout. I am sure he will make your day.
There are those men and women would work in the golf industry and then there are those men and women who are living golf as a professional tour player. Without either of these golf professionals golf would not be Golf..it would be an activity where you hit a little white ball with a stick that has a club glued to the end until you hit someone, break something or send it flying off over the horizon. Though that sounds like fun to some, it could become rather malicious if one was to continue to play golf that way.
So, someone has to show people what golf can be used for or how to play golf. Today I feature two members of the BGCC who are aspiring to show people what golf can be used for and who are setting out on their dream of to be on the Professional Golf Tour.
Kelly Rose Kronen -New Fairfield, CT- Has a passion for the game of golf and a drive to match it. She also has a plan which itself is impressive. Her plan is to work her way onto the LPGA through staying focused on improving each day and to one day shake Tiger Wood’s hand as a equal in golf performance.
Kelly’s high school golf years included being All State, ALL FCIAC, ALL CIAC, All New England and ALL American. She was rated the top female golfer in Connecticut and The New England area. She led her high school team to State three years and every year and was undefeated. she won the All American High school golf tournament in my junior year and was named Cannon’s GHO Golfer of the Year two years in a row. She also won the Danbury Amateur the year before turning pro which was in 2008.
Becoming a member of the LPGA is quit an ambitious target, but that is what I like to see in young people and is what is needed in Golf in order to show those looking on what golf has to offer outside of hitting a little white ball around with a stick with a club on the end of it.
Stop by the BGCC and visit with Kelly and find out how you can help her with her plan.
Phil Bundy– Washington, D.C.- Now nearing midlife, has a dream he is going after and that is to make it to the “Big Show” of golf, the PGA Tour. Phil has ‘the chops’ from playing golf his entire life, but like so many talented golfers out there just did not have the drive to take it to the top until Now.
He has done many things including earning an MBA at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and started a golf marketing and management business at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship. Over the past 17 years, Phil has played many roles in the golf industry, including golf instructor, course manager, tournament director, agent, manufacturer, distributor, marketer, and publicist.
Phil is chronicling his journey to the ‘Tour’ through his blog as he works his way through the mini tour circuits. And needless to say, Phil could use your support. So check out Phil here at the BGCC, visit with him and I am sure you will see why I have featured him on the BGCC Report.
I am excited to report that the membership of the Business Golf Country Club is now over 280 members and is starting to balance out with more women business golfers joining each day. With that, the BGCC is looking to start a group within the club for the Women of Business Golf. The purpose of this group is to address the interest women have in golf and business and organize programs and activities associated in educating more women business golfers on the ventures golf has in producing business.
If you are interested in being on the founding board for this group, learning more about where the BGCC is going or want to be more a part of this growing club, please contact me, Scot Duke, Club Manager, thru this web-site or at the BGCC.
I keep mentioning that there are going to be changes and I can validate that they are on their way. As soon as the changes to the changes get ironed out, I will be letting each member of the BGCC know how it impacts them. As you know, the business world as well as the golf industry is moving very fast to making changes and so is the BGCC. Some of these changes are going to be revolutionary in the Business Golf arena as well the Golf Industry and exclusive only to the members who are in the club TODAY…so, if you know of business golfers in your contact list, you may want to let them know that they might want to join the club NOW or miss out on what the CHANGE will hold for those on the inside will ONLY be offered. I will guarantee this will be ‘The Golf Club’ to be a member of…
As mentioned in the News Line on the Business Golf Country Club site, you can now use the new URL for locating the club on the internet. www.bizgolfcc.com This should make things simpler in linking to the club and sending out personal invitations to your friends to join the club.
As you are aware, a Head Shot Photo in the member’s profile image is required to be approved as a member. Sorry there are NO Exceptions. Also, only the person’s Full Name will be accepted. No corporate names or business names will be allowed. As a reminder, answering the questions provided in the member’s profile will not only allow me to review your interest in golf for acceptance into the Club but will also provide me with information on what the membership can do to help you and who in the membership you are looking for to connect.
The BGCC policies are changing as the Club grows and are there to protect the membership more than deter them. I hate groups that put a lot of restrictions on a member, but respect groups that guard my integrity as a professional in my field of business..that is what the BGCC is built on. I am sure the BGCC will not be for everyone since there are a large number of misguided people out here in La-La-Land who do not respect the code of honor built amongst professional and they will not be allowed in the Club. I am open to feedback on what else the club needs policies around, but remember, my goal is to offer you a safe and FUN place to be online so you can rest assured that everyone else who is a member of the club is here for the same reason which is to do business, play golf and play golf while doing business…
Have fun out here and I will be visiting with you all again soon.

If you play golf then you sooner or later will realize that you need to learn the rules. This is a daunting experience even for the people who play golf for a living. However, for the beginner, to sit and read the Official Rules of Golf just is not a quick read.
The Rules of Golf is really not easy. Matter of fact I feel that the way the rules are worded it causes more confusion than solves problems or answers questions a golfer may have. So where does one go to get another look at the rules of golf?
Recently, during the ClamBake Cafe Podcast Talk Show, Shannon Grissom, asked the question
“Where would a beginner golfer go to learn more about the Rules of Golf?”
Well, I contacted my friend Rick Pipal who is a prominent member of the Business Golf Country Club plus the author of “The Golf Course” ©Etiquette Manual. I asked if he could point me to some good sites on the Rules of Golf. Here is what Rick suggested:
I dug around and found a few video’s on the Rules.
Of course I can’t leave my friend Randy Smith, Justin Leonard’s instructor, out of the picture with his humors look at the Rules of Golf.
Hopefully this will get you down the road to understanding the Rules of Golf better. Let me know how I can help.
